Patria's Story: God Is So Gracious
One day, tragedy struck and as my world spun out of control, and my heart was broken, I was also confronted with the reality that the religion I had believed to be The Truth, didn’t have what I needed in this time of deepest sorrow and need. Sadly, I had no idea that there was anything better.

Linda's Story: The Truth Set Me Free
I no longer have to match scripture to what I have been taught. I am a blood bought Christian and I believe in the Word of God. In John 8:31 & 32, Jesus says, “…If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and truth will set you free.” I praise God daily for He has set me free.

Karen's Story: My Steps Home
Royce and I would like to invite our family, friends and readers that remain in the Adventist religion to read Galatians and open their hearts and to understand that God changed the day of worship. In Hebrews 4:6, 7 the writer says, “Therefore, God again set a certain day, calling it Today.” Worshipping God is not about a day. It is about a person, Jesus Christ. I pray that God touches your heart through our stories and that you too shed the yoke of slavery and the worshi

Heidi's Story: Was Blind but Now I see
I was sure that my friend would "see the truth" in our studies and I would help convert him (he was Christian, mind you – just not an Adventist). I never imagined it would be the other way around!

Dana Kendall's Story: For the Gospel
Dear reader, I share these experiences in order to provide information about the SDA Church and the process of leaving it. Perhaps when God puts SDAs in the pathway of your life, you can minister to them in a more informed way, realizing that they are not just another denomination of people who worship on Saturday instead of Sunday. In reality, most are afraid to leave the church and frightened of death because they do not know how to fully rely on the grace of Christ for the

Leigh Ann's Story: Uncovering My Heart
The veil of Adventism is thick like armor. It is heavy and cumbersome. It binds and restricts. But my Savior is careful to tenderly remove the veil from my heart, one layer at a time, until I am finally free. Thank you, Jesus.

Chapter Two: Why Study
Legitimate questions arise as we undertake the study of the foundations and doctrines unique to Adventism. “Why should we study them? Isn’t this just a distraction from the gospel and from Jesus? Is this just another form of legalism and the religious spirit? Who cares? Do you think we are hung up on that old stuff?”

Chapter Six: Are the Ten Commandments Immutable?
There is a teaching in Adventism that alleges that the Ten Commandments are eternal and unchanging. We were taught, “they are a transcript of God’s character.” And since God never changes this law can never change. Even speaking those words seems to carry with them the weight of cannon truth. The difficulty comes when one tries to find that teaching in the Bible.
